Which Garage Doors Are Best?

If you’re thinking about upgrading your garage door, it can be quite overwhelming with the extensive choice available on the market. In this blog post, we break down some of the most popular garage doors, all of which we supply and install.

Overhead Canopy

When opened, a canopy garage door panel protrudes about a ⅓ from the ceiling, which forms a canopy. There are also no tracks running back into the garage when the door is closed. In order to stop unwanted entry, canopy garage doors feature a secure two point locking at the top of the door panel, making sure your belongings are safe and sound. Additionally, canopy garage doors have an anti-drop device to prevent the door from crashing down onto you, in result of a spring or cable failure.

One of the biggest advantages of this type of garage door is that it’s one of the cheapest in the industry, due to no electricity having to be installed, as most models are manual. It’s also super easy to clean, with a simple hose down required once in a while.

Retractable Doors

Retractable garage doors open on horizontal tracks, which run back through to the garage, allowing the panel to retract into the ceiling space. If you’re struggling with a small driveway, this type of garage door could be a great option for you, as it allows more space to move around on the driveway.

Another huge benefit of installing a retractable garage door includes how easy it is to add on an electrical feature. The addition of remote-controlled garage doors allows you to save time when you’re on the go, as well as enhanced security.

Sectional Doors

Sectional garage doors are best described as four or five individual horizontal panels which are joined together by hinges. This results in the panel bending and following a curved path, when the garage door is opened and closed.

It’s a popular choice for those who experience harsh weather conditions, as they are better at insulating the garage in comparison to other options. This results in the space being used more, and significantly reduces heating costs. Additionally, the sectional door is much more compact than an overhead canopy, as it doesn’t cut into driveway space when opening.
